Laila Atshan is a psychosocial counselor based in Ramallah, in the Palestinian territories. She is a consultant for UNICEF and other international organizations and is an independent evaluator for psychosocial programs of the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in the West Bank. Some of her recent assignments include training UNICEF staff working in the Darfur conflict zone and training Iraqi university professors in promotion and implementation of human rights in the context of conflict. She specializes in counseling people with disabilities, refugees, prisoners, and survivors of political and domestic violence. Atshan has an MA in social work from Rutgers University.
