Nancy Schwoyer, MA. CAES. For more than 50 years, Schwoyer has been an educator and activist for social justice, practicing the theory of Paulo Freire that education is the key to the transformation of poverty. She is both President Emerita and co-founder of Wellspring House, Inc, Gloucester, Massachusetts. Schwoyer's earlier work was in North Carolina, where, as principal of St. Genevieve's Academy, she, faculty, and high school students participated in the Civil Rights Movement.
