Tours and Info Sessions

Take a tour of UMass Boston and the surrounding areas and get an honest sense of what's happening here on a daily basis. On sea or on land, for information or just for fun, take a look at some of the exciting tours available at UMass Boston.

  • UMass Boston Campus - You can tour the UMass Boston campus year-round with an experienced and friendly tour guide who'll be able to answer questions while pointing out important places on campus. With the exception of holiday, tours are given Monday through Thursday at 3pm, and Friday at 2 pm. Please call us at 617.287.6000 to reserve a space at an introductory information session and campus tour.
  • Greenhouse The Biology Department Greenhouse Tours - UMass Boston's greenhouses are filled with numerous collections of plants native to tropical, desert, and temperate climates; taking an informative tour here is sort of like taking an exotic vacation! Call the greenhouse to arrange for one of the tours, which are conducted Monday through Friday: 617.287.6580.
  • Tuesday Free Harbor Cruises (Summer Only) - The summer time is a great time to see the beautiful harbor surrounding UMass Boston. The experienced crew can tell you all about the sights and sounds of the Boston Harbor Island on board the MB Hurricane, while providing an ideal opportunity for you to meet new people. Harbor Cruises run from noon to 1:15pm
  • JFK LibraryThe John F. Kennedy Library and Museum - Located on the UMass Boston property, The JFK Museum & Presidential Library is dedicated to the memory of our nation's thirty-fifth President and to all those who, through the art of politics, seek a new and better world. UMass Boston students get free general admission by showing their student ID card!
  • Commonwealth Museum at the Massachusetts State Archives - Also located on the UMass Boston campus, these archives house documents and artifacts dating back hundreds of years. With multiple galleries and rotating exhibits, the Archives are an invaluable resource for everybody. Admission to the Museum in the front lobby is free.
  • Arts on the Point tour Arts on the Point - Dedicated to the enrichment of Boston's cultural, intellectual, and physical landscape, Arts on the Point aims to establish the region's first collection of large-scale outdoor sculpture by some of the world's leading artists. The park is open to the public free of charge 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. To request a tour, call 617.876.3233, or email artsonthepoint@umb.edu.
  • Boston Museum of Fine Arts - This is a world-class museum with some of the best artwork ever created and admission is free with a valid UMass Boston student ID (general galleries only)! The Museum also offers Free Introductory Tours, which last for about an hour and are led by Museum-trained guides.
