Zhang’s research interests are social and behavioral determinants of chronic health conditions including obesity, cardiovascular disease and cancer. She is particularly interested in early life determinants of adulthood health and multilevel determinants associated with health disparities. Dr. Zhang specializes in biostatistics and research methods, and provides statistical consulting services for faculty and students at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. She served as editorial assistant for the journal Sociological Methodology, a periodical published through the American Sociological Association devoted solely to research methods. She also served as peer-reviewer for Social Science Quarterly. Her dissertation was titled “A Multilevel Study of Effects of Socioeconomic Status, Income Inequality, and Built Environment on Adult Obesity in China.”
