The Office of Community Relations
The
Office of Community Relations serves as the liaison between the community
and UMass Boston, representing the University in several community organizations
and activities whose mission is closely aligned with that of the University.
These include the Newmarket Business Association, the Boston Police Department,
the Dorchester YMCA and the South Boston Boys and Girls Club.
The Office coordinates the outreach activities of the University's faculty and staff in addressing community issues, serving the community's interests, and responding to all community inquiries.
The Office is an active participant in local civic associations, as well as in the Columbia Point Association, which is composed of neighboring institutions on the peninsula. In addition, the Office provides and schedules all on-campus conference, classroom, and facilities space for community group activities. It supports community programs and initiatives that advance the interests of both the University and the community through donations of in-kind services, volunteerism, and assisting and co-hosting various community events.
