Community
Relations
Gail Hobin, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Community Relations is
the primary liaison between the university and external community. Gail
served as Director of Community Relations & Special Events from
1988-2002. She has worked at the University since 1985 and earned her
both her B.A. and M.A. at the University of Massachusetts Boston. You

Special Events
The Area of Community Relations and Special Events is responsible for
planning and hosting all major events at UMass Boston. These events
are managed by Allison Duffy, Director of Special Events and Scheduling.

Lena Serpa serves as administrative assistant to both Community Relations and Special Events. She is repsonsible for providing administrative support to the department and schedules space for non-academic use on campus. You can reach Lena via e-mail at lena.serpa@umb.edu.
