Media Advisories, News Releases, Lead Sheets, and PSAs
When we have selected an event or item as newsworthy, we construct a strategic plan to convey the details to the media. In most cases, we begin by putting out a media advisory. These provide brief information alerting the media to the event. We then research and write a news release conveying sometimes extensive information regarding the item and its significance to the public. On the release, we provide contact numbers for reporters to call with further questions. We distribute and follow up on press releases, ensuring that members of the media have the information they need for their purposes. Click here to access news releases. Members of the university community interested in generating a media advisory, news release, may contact us.
In addition, we produce lead sheets to inform the press of a UMass Boston expert willing to comment on a given news topic and offer potential story ideas based on related ideas or activities emerging at UMass Boston. Our public service announcements provide helpful information about UMass Boston research.
