Requesting Design, Editorial, and Production Services for Publications, Advertisements, and Other Projects

Planning Ahead

To ensure that UMass Boston presents an orderly, consistent, and professional image to the public, all advertising and publications must be produced with the assistance of the Division of Government Relations and Public Affairs, which is charged with maintaining high standards in text, design, and production.

Please be aware that your project may require more time than you expect. Often several weeks must be allowed for planning, editing and design, review, and consultation. The printing process alone typically takes one to three weeks. Under normal conditions, an advertisement can be prepared for a newspaper in about ten days, and a simple brochure can be delivered in about four weeks, from our receipt of complete draft text. But major projects normally require many weeks or months, of work and interchange.

Turnaround time will be affected not only by the demands of your project, but also by our office’s workload when your request arrives. We must give highest priority to major projects directed to external audiences for university-wide purposes; other work is scheduled around these projects. Normally, therefore, you should request our help with a small project, such as an advertisement or invitation, at least six weeks before you wish it to be completed. For substantial projects, you should allow at least six months.

If your request comes late, we will do our best to help you, but meeting your deadline may be beyond reach. Good advance planning, however, will allow us to work with you to achieve the best possible result in the shortest possible time.

Submitting a Request

Please use the Request Form reached through this link, being sure to complete every section. After you have submitted your request, a representative of our office will contact you to discuss your project and begin the planning and scheduling process.
