CALENDAR OF CRITICAL DATES
January 1st
File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) any time after this date for the upcoming academic school year. Begin to research and apply for private sources of aid. (See Merit-Based Scholarships).
March 1st
Priority consideration for waivers, institutional grants, low interest loans and Federal Work Study is given to students with a completed FAFSA that lists UMB school code and has a valid EFC (figure calculated by the Central Processor of the Department of Education).
May 1st
- The Central Processor must receive the FAFSA by this date to be considered for the Massachusetts Grant Program (undergraduate students only). Resolve any conflicts with OSFA by this date.
- Respond promptly to all requests from Financial Aid Services. Commonly requested documents are: Federal tax returns, Verification Worksheets and/or Proof of Citizenship. The information requested on these forms is very important, so please give these requests your immediate attention.
- Follow up on the status of your financial aid application.
June 1st
Bills begin to be issued by the Bursar's Office.
August 15
Bills are due to the Bursar's Office. You must pay by this date to avoid late charges, particularly if your Financial aid has not been processed or is not available.
Mid October
Students eligible for the FWS program must complete all paperwork and be on the UMass Boston FWS payroll by this time. Failure to meet this deadline will result in cancellation of your FWS eligibility.
November 1st
Spring entering/transfer student priority filing date.
Mid December
Spring bills issued by the Bursar's Office.
