The Financial Aid Award Notification Letter
You will receive a Financial Aid Award Notification letter if you meet all of the following conditions:
- You have been accepted into a degree or eligible certificate program.
- You are an active student.
- You filed a current academic year FAFSA with the Department of Education and received a valid EFC.
- You have responded to all requests for additional documentation to resolve conflicting information and/or complete the verification process (allowing sufficient time for processing).
- You are eligible to receive aid.
The Financial Aid Award Notification Letter lists the types and amounts of financial aid for which you are eligible for the entire academic year. Remember that the academic year begins with the fall semester and concludes in the spring semester.
If you are receiving outside assistance like scholarships or tuition waivers please complete the reverse side of the award letter and submit it to Financial Aid Services. Remember to make a copy for your records. To accept or decline awards, go to WISER. Keep in mind that declined aid may not be reinstated.
- If you are considering declining a certain award, like a Federal Perkins Loan, a Federal Direct Loan or Federal Work Study, be advised that the Federal Direct Loan is the only award for which you may request reinstatement at a later date. Please contact a financial aid counselor if you have questions or concerns.
- If you are awarded a Federal Perkins Loan, you will receive a promissory note. To accept this loan complete, sign and return the promissory note immediately. You must also complete a Perkins Entrance Interview Session here.
- If you are awarded Federal Work Study, please visit Student Employment Services for additional information. Your FWS eligibility will be cancelled if you fail to complete all of the requirements by the October deadline.
