Transfer Student Information

Financial Aid awards are valid only at the Instituiton which offered the award. Transfer students are required to apply for aid through each school's Financial Aid Office.

In order to receive financial aid at UMass Boston, call the Department of Education (1-800-4-FEDAID, www.fafsa.ed.gov) and ask to have your FAFSA sent to UMass Boston.   The Title IV school code for UMass Boston is 002222.   If you have not completed a FAFSA for the current academic year, go here.

If you were eligible for a Massachusetts State Grant at your former institution, you should have received an Award Letter from Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA).  Return the letter to OSFA if the school listed next to your spring semester eligibility is not UMass Boston.  If you did not keep this letter, simply request on-line that your grant eligibility be transferred to UMass Boston www.osfa.mass.edu or send a letter to OSFA.  The amount of your Massachusetts State Grant at UMass Boston may be different than the amount you received at your previous institution.

The priority filing date for spring semester transfer students is November 1.  A completed FAFSA listing UMass Boston that has been processed by the Central Processor for the Department of Education, with a valid Expected Family Contribution, will receive priority consideration for available financial aid if received by this deadline.
