Psychological Resilience after Hurricane Katrina
MacArthur Foundation supports Professor Jean Rhodes: YouTube video

Professor of Psychology Jean Rhodes and her doctoral students were in a unique position when Hurricane Katrina struck. As part of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation's Transitions to Adulthood network, Rhodes was studying community college students' perseverance. With the philanthropic investment of the foundation, she and her colleagues were able to build on their findings and have deepened understanding of how women cope before and after a crisis. PhD student Christian Chan has investigated the particular role of faith and religion in building resilience.
