Philanthropy: An Irresistible Force

Dear Friends of UMass Boston,

darrellWe are pleased to share with you UMass Boston's Advancement Report 2008. With your support, we raised $16.8 million from private donors last year.  To honor the university's commitment to sustainability, we've created our first on-line report on private giving.

Its themes — wisdom, passion, and wealth — guided an early philanthropist in the university's history, Mary Hemenway.  She was the benefactor of the Boston Normal School which eventually became Boston State College.

Our interactive, multimedia report will show you the donors, students and faculty whose lives are enriched through philanthropy. Images from our sailing programs illustrate the power of philanthropy and the many ways private giving expands UMass Boston's horizons.

You'll find videos and slide shows as well as stories which demonstrate the great influence of a gift to UMass Boston no matter what the size.

Your generosity has enabled us to share the good news you will find in Philanthropy: An Irresistible Force.

Thank you.
