Wireless and Wired Access on Campus - WiFi Service

wireless logoBeginning December 8, 2004, the Campus Center Atrium at UMass Boston went wireless. WiFi service in the Healey library and parts of the Quinn building has been installed.

The Division of Information Technology is pleased to announce its Wireless and Hot-Jack Services in the campus Center. These services are available to students, staff, and faculty. A valid UMass Boston email username and password is required to log on to the network. You may connect to the wireless network while enjoying the comforts of the Atrium or connect to a hot-jack, identified by a red dot on jack faceplates located throughout the building.

Hot-Jacks ImageHotjacks for Wired Access: If your laptop does not have a wireless network card, you can plug it in directly to a hotjack, which will connect you directly to the internet. Hotjacks are located throughout the campus center atrium.

Wireless Networking Locations:

  • The Healey library from the 2nd to the 8th floor.

  • The Upper Level of Quinn outside the cafe and the first floor Quinn lobby outside the IT office.

  • Second floor Quinn lobby has some carry over.
  • The Campus Center Upper Level - third floor.

Wireless Protocol Supported: 802.11b
Please do not connect Symbol or Belkin wireless access points to the campus data network.
