FAQ: Microsoft Outlook
Changing View on All Folders
To change the default view for all your folders, do the following:
- Optional Step: Only do this first step if you are trying to resolve a problem or get a fresh start with all your views. This command will clear out any underlying problems with your views and put them back to how they were when Outlook was first installed
- Start Outlook by going to the Start Menu, click on Run.
- Type “outlook /cleanviews” in the Run window or a CMD window.
- Click OK.
Once Outlook is open, do the following steps
- Select the Inbox, on the left.
- Go to View; Arrange By; Current View; Define Views
- Select Messages (or IMAP Messages) and press Modify button
- Make whatever changes you'd like now....
- Press OK in the Customize View: Messages/IMAP Messages window
- Select a different view, any other view, in the list, and then press Apply View
- Go back to View; Arrange By; Current View and select Messages/IMAP Messages
This will change your Messages/IMAP Messages view, which is the default for most or all folders.
