RE: Financial Aid Go-Live
DATE: February 15, 2006
On March 6, 2006, UMass Boston will begin using a new Financial Aid module as part of the new, web-based student self service system that was unveiled in November. Called WISER (Web Administrative Computings for Everyone Remix), this new system gives students access to all of their personal, academic and financial data, including information related to Corporate, Continuing and Distance Education (CCDE). A new web page, http://wiser.umb.edu, provides access to WISER and instructions for logging in and using the system.
As we turn on the Financial Aid portion of the system, there are three key changes students will see:
- New Navigation
Students will be able to access all their financial aid information in WISER. - New Functionality
Students will be able to use new functionality to help them manage their financial aid needs, such as reducing and/or decline student employment and student loan awards. - Information on the 05-06 Aid Year is not accessible in the new system
For students to get information on aid from that year, they will need to visit the One Stop on the Upper Level of the Campus Center.
In the future, students will also be notified via their UMass Boston e-mail account if their awards change. They should also check self-service often for award and disbursement information, as well as to monitor the status of their Financial Aid to-do lists. The Accessing Financial Aid link shows students how to navigate to this new part of the system, and provides detailed explanations on this functionality.
The roll out of the Financial Aid module represents the final piece of our overall WISER implementation. We appreciate the dedication of many staff from across the campus whose involvement in this implementation has helped to make this system a success for our campus community.
