Blackboard Learning System, Vista is a web-based course management system used throughout all UMass campuses. It allows instructors to enhance your learning experience by offering such features as online discussions, multimedia materials, course information, assignments, and tests.

To access Blackboard Learning System-Vista, point your browser to http://boston.umassonline.net
Browser settings
Please review the browser settings and perform a browser check before logging in to ensure your computer is properly configured to use Vista.
Your browser is valid if
• Cookies are enabled;
• JavaScript is enabled;
• Popup windows are enabled; and
• The correct version of Java is installed.
Once your browser has been properly configured, please log in by entering your username and password.
Enter Username: UMS12345678
This is the same as your Wiser Student ID. Further Information is available at www.umb.edu/students.
If you have not been issued a UMS number, please contact the Registrar's Office.
Enter Password: The default password is boston (all lower case).
The first time you login, you will be prompted to change your password and create a security question and answer. (Tip: Choose a question and answer which are clear to you, but not easily guessed by others. It is essential to create these should you ever need assistance logging into your courses due to a forgotten password.)
Example:
Username: UMS12345678
Password: boston
Tips for creating good passwords:
• Use eight characters or longer.
• Include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters.
• Use numbers, and symbols.
• Use words that are easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess.
