Memo
Dear Faculty,
September 2, 2006
Welcome back to UMASS Boston this fall of 2006. The following information will help you acquaint your students with the language lab.
· Students bring a valid UMASS I.D. with a Healey Library barcode to use the lab.
· Students attend an orientation during the first week of classes. Orientations last 20 minutes.
·
Please call (617) 287-5969 or 5970 and talk with Mary or email mary.simone@umb.edu about scheduling a lab orientation for your students during the first week of classes.
There are several changes this Fall 2006
- The language lab website site.www.umb.edu/langlab lab has been updated and will continue to be updated throughout the semester. Students can use the website from home or in the Media Center on the 3rd floor of the Healey Library.
- Language lab computers now provide students with a digital recorder called Audacity which will enable them to record and save their work as digital files that faculty will be able to access from our language lab server at their home or office computer.
- Tutorial on Audacity Click here to learn more.
- Tutorial on use of language lab facility, website, webct http://media.umb.edu/langlaborientationsummer06
- Spanish 101 and 102 and 201 students and faculty will be given webct passwords to access all lab materials through the course shell. This will provide faculty with improved tracking system for lab attendance. Faculty who are teaching these courses will be contacted for orientations during the beginning of the summer.
I look forward to working with all of you this Fall.
Mary
