Contribute Basics
Browser Mode: Browse mode allows you to view pages only, not edit them. The Contribute browser looks similar to any web browser, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari. In browser mode it provides an interface to view web pages on any website. It has a back, forward, stop, refresh as well as home button. The address box allows you to type in a web address to access the web page you would like to edit. Clicking Go (or pressing the Enter/Return key) will take you to your designated web page. The choose button opens the Choose File on Website dialog box.
Edit Mode: Edit mode allows you to actually edit your page. In this mode, you will see the Publish button: this button lets you publish the page that you are working on. The Cancel button allows you to cancel the Draft of your web page. A page is considered a "Draft" until it is published. The Send for Review button lets you send the page you are editing to colleagues for their input. Save for Later allows you to stop editing the page without publishing it, and the filename will remain listed in the pages panel for when you want to go back to edit the page.

You'll find the majority of your editing tools on the Edit Mode toolbar. The main ones are: Insert Link, Insert Image, and Insert Table. Use these buttons to add links, images, and tables to your web page.
The second row of tools in the toolbar provides the ability to format the text on the web page. UMass uses a standardized stylesheet whose styles are detailed in the section "Using Styles."
