How to Add a Photo
Insert Image
In Edit mode, from the top menu, go to Insert > Image > From my Computer.
Contribute will then make a copy of that image from your local computer and put it in the "images" directory of whatever page you're working on. If an "images" folder does not exist in that directory, Contribute will create one for you.
Publish your page!
Photo Preparation
Organize your images in advance. This includes making sure the images are of reasonable (byte) size and proper dimensions. There are a slew of image editing tools to ensure the integrity of photos at optimal size including Photoshop. We recommend photo images not be more than 40K max per image as a page should not be more than 100K for optimal load time. The more images per page, the more load time it takes to display the page. See the section on File Optimization for proper image preparation.
Photo Dimensions
Photo dimensions should be no more than 540 pixels for a 3-column layout and a maximum of 755 pixels for a 2-column layout [see diagram]
Alt Tags
University policy requires all UMass pages to be ADA compliant. ADA stands for American Disabilities Act. To meet this requirement, i's important to type descriptions of images in the alt tag as described in the movie (see link at top of page).
