Superb teaching record garners award
for American Studies grad directorThe Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools honored Prof. Judith Smith, director of the Graduate Program in American Studies,with their Annual Faculty Teaching Award for 1998. Smith was the unanimous choice of the selection committee.
Smith was cited for her superb teaching record, the impressive changes made to the Graduate Program in American Studies during her time as director, and her dedication to graduate education. She received a certificate and a $500 prize, which were formally presented to her at the opening banquet of the Association's annual meeting in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 23. Graduate Dean Martin Quitt introduced Smith at the ceremony.
