Campus Notes

On October 28, an oil portrait of Chancellor Sherry Penney was unveiled at a reception in the Chancellor's Conference Room. The portrait is the work of artist Dorian Vallejo, and it was commissioned by the Chancellor's husband, James Livingston, and Michael Luck, vice chancellor for University Advancement, Edward O'Malley, vice chancellor for External Relations, and Edmund Toomey, associate chancellor. Chancellor Penney was joined at the reception by her husband, her mother, Mrs. Jean Hood, and many colleagues and friends. She took the occasion to announce her gift of $25,000 to the Hood Endowment Scholarship Fund named in honor of her parents, Terrance and Jean, bringing her total contribution to the scholarship fund of $60,000. Pictured here with Chancellor Penney at the reception are Eric Brown, a Hood Scholarship recipient, and her mother, Mrs. Jean Hood. (Photo by Harry Brett)
