Tune into WUMB 91.9 FM on Sundays at 7:00 p.m. for Commonwealth Journal, a weekly, half-hour public affairs program featuring interviews with scholars, writers, cultural workers, and public officials examining current topics and issues of particular interest to Massachusetts listeners. November’s topics included:

  • “The Story Behind the Song and Film Alice’s Restaurant,” featuring author Laura Lee of Arlo, Alice & Anglicans: The Lives of A New England Church.

  • “Taking Shakespeare to Youth,” featuring Kevin Coleman, director of Education, Shakespeare & Co.

  • “Gender Bending Shakespeare,” featuring Lisa Wolpe, director, all-female cast of Taming of the Shrew.

  • “Genetic Counseling,” featuring Kathryn Spitzer Kim, co-director, Genetic Counseling Program, Brandeis University

  • “The Human Genome Mapping Project,” featuring Rick Kesseli, UMass Boston professor of biology.
