By James CastiolaThe Office of Institutional Research and Policy Studies (OIRP) has released its annual Statistical Portrait for the fall of 2000. The Statistical Portrait contains current and historical data regarding the universitys admissions, enrollment (including Division of Corporate, Continuing, and Distance Education enrollment), degrees conferred, and faculty and staff. The information ranges from the SAT scores of our newest freshman to
the number of majors and degrees conferred. Readers find trend data
that offers five to ten consecutive years of data especially useful. Readers of the Statistical Portrait will learn that the average SAT scores for our newly enrolled freshman increased from 1,033 to 1,046, or a 1.3 percent increase, between fall 1999 and fall 2000. The data also reveals that the most popular undergraduate majors are psychology with 560 students, computer science with 558 students, and English with 449 students. For graduate students, the Teacher Education MEd Program leads the way with 308 students, followed by the MBA and Counseling Programs. Perhaps the most impressive statistic is the number of doctorates conferred,
which has climbed from two in the 1990-1991 academic year to 31 in the
1999-2000 academic year. |
