by Anne-Marie Kent CPCS Professor Emilie Steele and more than 30 CPCS faculty and staff members have come together to fund a new award honoring Evonne Hill-Shepard, a valued member of the CPCS community who died in August of 1999. In her 15 years of service to the College, she acted as director of alumni relations and community relations. This award will aid the academic pursuits of CPCS students. Also, Jacqueline Fawcett of the Department of Community and Family Nursing has established the Sylvia Gendrop Faculty Research Fund of the Office of Urban family Health to honor Sylvia Gendrop, who was associate professor of nursing and director of research and faculty development. She passed away last July. During her nearly 30 years of teaching at Boston State College and UMass Boston, Gendrop encouraged and inspired countless students and fellow faculty. The fund will provide annual research support for College of Nursing and Health Sciences faculty. Contributions to the Hill-Shepherd Award and the Gendrop Faculty Research
