Jo Ann Gora To Be Inaugurated as Chancellor at UMass Boston on September 27What:Jo Ann Gora will be officially installed as the sixth chancellor of UMass Boston in an inauguration ceremony to be held on September 27. The university will host over 30 inaugural events in celebration of Dr. Gora throughout September and October, including forums, lectures, concerts, harbor tours, and gallery exhibits. In her first year, she raised admissions standards, increased community outreach, improved the instructional technology infrastructure, developed academic centers of excellence in the environmental sciences and public policy, and increased the sense of campus community by improving the physical plant and creating opportunities to celebrate student and faculty accomplishments. Prior to her appointment at UMass Boston, Dr. Gora served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
