From around the world and around the corner
they're coming to the
BOSTON FOLK FESTIVAL !
now in its fifth year
(Boston, MA) . . . Among the thousands of ticketholders for the upcoming
Boston Folk Festival are fans from countries as far away as England, Canada,
and Japan, and states as far away as Alaska, Washington and California.
What's the big attraction?
Now in its fifth year, the Boston Folk Festival offers two large, outdoor
stages, an indoor coffeehouse stage, a family stage--and a floating, harbor-cruising
stage. Top artists such as Nanci Griffith, Richard Thompson, Iris DeMent,
The Waifs, CJ Chenier, Patty Larkin, Cephas & Wiggins, Utah Phillips,
and many others are scheduled to play.
The Festival is scheduled to take place at UMass Boston on September
21 and 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days. The Festival is sponsored
by WUMB 91.9 FM. The festival features a diverse music mix, including
blues, bluegrass, traditional and cutting-edge folk and zydeco music.
The big field stage has plenty of room for dancing.
According to WUMB Station Manager Pat Monteith, the stellar line-up for
this year's Boston Folk Festival has resulted in a record-number of advance
ticket purchases. "We expect this year's Boston Folk Festival to
be the biggest and best ever as the campus gets an opportunity to play
host to an outstanding and electrifying weekend event for visitors from
more than 25 states and from as far away as England and Japan."
Festivalgoers can also browse the wares of craft sellers, shed shyness
at dance workshops, and entertain the family at the kids' activity area.
A wide range of food vendors offers vegetarian and ethnic options for
lunches, dinners, and snacks.
