Negotiating Jerusalem: Hope for The Contested
City? A Conversation with Dr. Menachem Klein

. As the first installment of the Graduate Programs in Dispute Resolution
Spring 2003 Middle East Lecture Series, Dr. Menachem Klien will speak
on the history and politics of Jerusalem, the possibilities for change
in this divided city and the implications for greater society. Dr. Klien
is a Senior Scholar at the Jerusalem Institute for Israeli Studies, professor
of political Science at Bar Ilan University and was advisor to the Israeli
delegation during the Camp David Summit in July 2000. He has recently
published a book on Jerusalem's complicated political climate titled,
"Jerusalem: The Contested City", (NYU Press, 2001) with translator

A Curator’s Perspective: Carole Anne Mehan; ICA/Vita Brevis
of the Institute of Contemporary Art

describe her work as curator of Vita Brevis, in which she commissions
artists from around the world to create new, temporary works of art made
in response to Boston's landscape and history. These works are presented

Live Satellite Event: Copyright Issues Online

will learn how to apply the "fair use" provision of international
copyright code when using copyrighted materials in digital forms. Topics
covered will include guidelines and "rules of thumb" regarding
the circumstances under which faculty should obtain permission to use
materials they did not create. (Knowing when permissions are not required
can save a great deal of time and money.) The workshop will also provide
information on the simplest, most efficient ways to obtain permission

TICS (Talks in Cognitive Science)
Which subject of scientific investigation could be more fascinating and
challenging than the human brain? Attend a TICS meeting at UMB. TICS meetings
take place approximately bi-weekly on Wednesdays from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
in McCormack Hall, room 409. The duration of presentations is between
45 and 60 minutes, followed by a discussion. Afterwards there is time
for informal exchange of ideas while refreshments are served.
