Lecture: Making a Difference: Women in Political Office

Carol Hardy-Fanta, PhD, director of the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy at the John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy at Global Studies will deliver a guest lecture at Salem State College as part of its Gender, Law and Policy spring 2012 lecture series. She will will explore why the US is so woefully behind other democracies in electing women to public office.
You'll get a chance to hear Hardy-Fanta, author of Latina Politics, Latino Politics: Gender, Culture and Political Participation in Boston, discuss the way the political system hinders women's political progress.
Following the lecture, she will be available to meet with students about the Women in Politics and Public Policy Graduate Certificate Program at UMass Boston.
The lecture series is presented by the Department of Political Science, Bates Center for Public Affairs, Political Science Academy, Amnesty International, Florence Luscomb Women's Center , and Pre-Law Society.
