The Chancellor's Council gathered on October 19th for its annual dinner. The council is comprised of the university's leadership donors, whose annual gifts of $1,000 or more form the centerpiece of UMass Boston's philanthropic support. The council contributed $1.4 million last year. Membership, which is at 271, continues to grow. The council seeks to top the 300 mark for members by October 2012.

Guests were welcomed by Chancellor's Council Cochairs Maureen Melton '85 and Arthur Bowes '69, who thanked the guests for their commitment to UMass Boston and encouraged members to continue to enlist new donors. In honor of the 160th anniversary of the Boston Normal School, precursor to Boston State College, member John Flores '71 spoke on Education: Learning from Yesterday, Adapting for Tomorrow. He is CEO and executive director of the United States Distance Learning Association. Guests enjoyed mingling with students from the College of Liberal Arts who were on hand to thank them and to share news about campus life
