C. Eduardo Siqueira, Associate Director for Research at the Gastón Institute, was among a small group of experts invited to speak at a symposium at the City University of New York (CUNY) on June 14 and 15,2012..Sponsored by the CUNY Institute for Health Equity (CIHE), the symposium was entitled Latino Men's Health: A Programmatic & Policy Agenda for Addressing their Needs.
Dr. Siquiera’s talk focused on Workforce and Occupational issues. Other topics included health and healthcare, workforce development, criminal justice, and policy issues as they relate to Latino and other minority men and their health. The overall goal was to craft a white paper to address policy and programmatic issues based on the recommendations from the two-day event.
CUNY and Dr. Marilyn Aguirre-Molina established CIHE in 2009. Its mission is to address the gaps facing underserved New Yorkers (primarily ethnic/racial minority populations), and in particular to identify and address the social determinants of health that contribute to the high morbidity and mortality rates within these communities.
The Gastón Institute is proud to have Dr. Siqueira representing the Institute and the University at such an important event.
