Free Flu Clinics Available in Boston This Weekend

State health officials have confirmed 6,000 cases of the flu in Massachusetts—including 700 in Boston alone. Mayor Thomas M. Menino underscored the seriousness of this year’s epidemic on Wednesday when he declared a public health emergency in the city. Fortunately, members of the UMass Boston community can receive a flu shot right here on campus.

Faculty, students, and staff can get flu shots during regularly scheduled clinic hours. University Health Services can directly bill many insurance plans; patients are responsible to pay their co-pay at the time of their visit. If a referral is required by an individual’s health insurance plan, patients must get that referral before the visit. UHS began offering flu shots on campus in October.

University of Health Services has several resources related to the flu, including information on symptoms and prevention, on its website.

The City of Boston's website has a complete list of health centers providing free flu shots this weekend. The city has also set up this hotline for residents to call: 617.543.5050.

It’s a privilege to have access to flu shots at school, it’s always good to keep our body ready and healthy.
