UMass Boston Gerontology students are doing internships on interesting topics in interesting places this summer as part of Gerontology course 798. Students participate in policy research or policy analysis of aging-related issues in various settings, including but not limited to government agencies, and research institutes at other universities and non-profit organizations. Each internship is supervised by a faculty member. Students receive credit on the basis of a paper that reflects the substantive work accomplished through the internship, or the general knowledge gained through the internship about policy research or policy analysis. Hear directly from our students on their summer internships:
"My internship this summer consists of assisting an agency create tools to evaluate their effectiveness. Ethos helps elders remain in their surroundings by ensuring that they―and their caregivers―have access to a continuum of home care services." Lorilei Richardson, Gerontology PhD student
"This summer, one of my internship projects will be doing case studies of some of the grantees of the Affordable Care Act: Opportunities for the Aging Network initiative." Caitlin Coyle, Gerontology PhD student
