UMass Boston and Roxbury International Film Festival Screen ‘We the Party’ for Black History Month

The University of Massachusetts Boston and the UMass Boston Black Faculty and Staff Association have teamed up with the Roxbury International Film Festival to host a screening of Mario Van Peebles’ “We the Party,” on Saturday, February 18.

The film will be shown at UMass Boston at the same time that is being aired in Los Angeles during the Pan African Film & Arts Festival being held there. Attendees at the Boston screening will be able to interact with Van Peebles during a Q &A session that will be skyped in from the Los Angeles premiere.

The screening will take place at 8:30 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom and is part of the university’s Black History Month activities.

We the Party” is a cutting-edge hip-hop infused comedy about the first generation of high schoolers to come of age during the Obama years. 

Tickets cost $2 and all proceeds go toward the J. Keith Motley Scholarship at UMass Boston.
