UMass Boston Hosting Three-Hour Tall Ship Cruises

Tall Ships are docking in Boston to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812.

UMass Boston’s Marine Operations is offering three-hour narrated cruises aboard the M/V Columbia Point, giving passengers an up close view of the Tall Ships and visiting naval ships in the port of Boston for the city’s July 4 celebration.

From June 30 - July 5, in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, Navy ships and Tall Ships will be coming to Boston Harbor to help celebrate.

The M/V Columbia Point departs from Fox Point and heads into the inner harbor for a leisurely cruise alongside the berthed vessels while light narration and music is provided. Passengers can walk about the boat and take pictures. Bringing a lunch is encouraged.

Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, and can be purchased in advance by calling Marine Operations at 617-287-5404, or at the time of boarding. Tickets cost $25 per person, and $20 for students and seniors.

Cruises leave from the Fox Point Dock, located adjacent to University Drive between Wheatley and McCormack halls. On-campus parking is available for $6.

For more information visit the Marine Operations website.

UMass Boston also hosts Monday harbor cruises through the summer.
