UMass Boston Professor’s Proposal Wins IBM Faculty Innovation Award

UMass Boston Professor of Management Science and Information Systems Noushin Ashrafi participated in a worldwide competition sponsored by the IBM Academic Initiatives. Her proposal for the design and development of a curriculum/course entitled, "Smarter Healthcare through Information Exchange," was awarded as part of the 2010 IBM Smarter Planet Industry Skills Innovation Program.

The 2010 Healthcare Industry Skills Award program aims to support the creation and incorporation of Smarter Healthcare skills into IT and Healthcare program of study. The developed courseware by Professor Ashrafi will be made publicly available to other universities through the IBM Academic Initiatives and will be cited in workshops, conferences, and publications.
