Fresh off its third Little East Conference title, the University of Massachusetts Boston women’s volleyball team (26-4) found out Monday it will face the Polytechnic Institute of New York University Fighting Blue Jays (23-14) Friday, November 11 in the first round of the NCAA Division III tournament. The game will take place in Springfield College’s Dana Gymnasium. The game starts at 12:30 p.m.
Led by tournament MVP Shannon Thompson, the 20th ranked Beacons became only the third program in the history of the Little East Conference tournament to win three straight tournament titles Sunday. UMass Boston defeated top seed Plymouth State University 3-0.
The trip to the NCAA tournament is the third straight for the Beacons. Last season UMass Boston defeated Springfield College in five sets to earn its first region title.
