Watch UMass Boston Professor Maria Ivanova Speak Live at the Planet Under Pressure Conference

The Planet Under Pressure Conference, taking place in London from March 26–29, just announced live streaming services for its plenary sessions and for two live episodes of “The Daily Planet” on each day of the conference.
The conference will bring together academics, international organizations, senior policy makers, technology experts, non-state actors, and representatives of the media to discuss how to apply new ideas and proposals to sustainable development. In particular, the event will examine the current state of the Earth’s environmental resources. Panelists will debate various proposals on how to balance local and global resource needs, how to change current consumption patterns, and how to achieve effective global governance.
Assistant Professor of Conflict Resolution, Human Security, and Global Governance Maria Ivanova will present at the session, “Realizing Green Economies: Harnessing Trade for Sustainable Development” along with Hon. Tony Burke MP, minister for sustainability, environment, water, population, and communities in Australia; Bedøich Moldan, director of the Charles University Environment Center; Daniela Mariuzzo, head of corporate social responsibility at Rabobank International; Anthony Cox, head of the OECD Environmental and Economic Integration Division; and Karsten Steinfatt, counselor for the WTO Trade and Environment Division.
Ivanova will also speak at the panel, “Delivering Governance for Global Sustainability Across States.” The other members of the panel are Carlos dos Santos, High Commissioner of Mozambique to the UK; Henri Djombo, minister of sustainable development, environment, and forestry of the Republic of the Congo; Anne Glover, chief scientific advisor to the European Commission; Patricia Pinho, a research scientist at the Brazil Center for Earth System Science; and Julia Marton-Lefevre, director-general of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

In addition to her position at the McCormack Graduate School, Ivanova is codirector of the Center for Governance and Sustainability and director of the Global Environmental Governance Project.
