WUMB Broadcasting Live from Newport Folk Festival

Wilco

WUMB 91.9FM will broadcast live this weekend from the sold-out Newport Folk Festival in Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, and host live streaming video coverage of performances on the www.wumb.org website.

WUMB’s Albert O of the “Highway 61 Revisited” show and Jay Moberg, host of the "WUMB Music Mix," will broadcast from the festival all weekend long, starting tomorrow, Friday, July 27, with a special performance from Wilco.

The line-up is tremendous. There are some artists who have been around for a long time and there are some newer artists who are at the forefront of folk music today,” Moberg said. “The festival does a really great job of bridging the past and the present for everyone to enjoy.”

Since the festival has been sold out since early March, Patty Domeniconi, interim general manager at WUMB, says the broadcast will “give us at WUMB the chance to play a part in community involvement.”

Because of the heightened interest in the festival from the community, “the live radio broadcast paired with the video-cast, which will be available on the WUMB website, will give people the chance to experience the festival without even being there”, states Domeniconi, “People come from all over the world to go to this concert.”
