Cheryl Savageau has published three books of poetry, her most recent is Mother/Land. Her second book of Poetry, Dirt Road Home, Was a finalist for the Paterson Poetry Prize, and nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. She has been awarded Fellowships in Poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Massachusetts Artists Foundation. She has taught writing at Clark University, Holy Cross College, UMass Amherst, and the University of New Mexico. She worked for several years as a “Poet-in-the schools” in Massachusetts, and was awarded Mentor of the Year by Wordcraft Circle of Poets and Writers, an international organization of Native and First Nations writers.

Creative Writing: Writing From Our Lives
Cheryl Savageau has published three books of poetry; her most recent is Mother/Land. In 2005, Cheryl was diagnosed with bipolar disorder/manic depressive illness. The diagnosis provided her with a new lens through which to view and understand her life experiences.
