The Communications and Training service in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) offers the following online databases to assist faculty and research staff in identifying external sources of funding. Most of these databases are available via any computer with a UMass Boston IP address. To access these sources from a computer without a UMass Boston IP address, please see the information sheet "Accessing funding databases."
The University subscribes to to the Community of Science (COS), a Web-based resource for funding opportunities and alert services. COS also offers EXPERTISE, a database of professional researcher profiles in North America.
SPIN tracks funding opportunities from federal, private, and corporate sources. Infoed, the vendor for SPIN, also offers the GENIUS application for matching principal investigators' profiles with potential funding sources.
Researchers are also encouraged to utilize the grants.gov database, which is the single access point for over 900 grant programs offered by the 26 federal grant-making agencies.
The Grant Adviser Plus is an online database and newsletter. New deadline memos/program descriptions come out at the beginning of each month 11 times per year. You will be able to download your own copy of The Grant Advisor early each month in various formats. Additional features include current deadline memo hyperlinks divided into the TGA subject areas (Fine Arts, Sciences, etc.)

It contains programs that offer training and research funding for graduate and medical students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty, as well as programs in science, math, engineering, and technology for undergraduate faculty and students.
