Early Learning Center
Our Mission: Laugh, Learn, and Grow with Us
Philosophy
The
UMass Boston Early Learning Center provides a welcoming, nurturing, educational
environment where children learn to trust others and form lasting relationships
with their teachers and peers. Young children are just beginning to understand
who they are in the world and how they fit in. Our program gives children
many opportunities to discover the world around them and actively participate
in their own learning.
The development of self-esteem is one of our fundamental goals. We encourage
children to make choices and decisions and to pursue their own interests.
We strive to provide a structure which will maximize success and minimize
frustration, allowing children the space and time they need to explore,
create, and learn at their own pace and in their own way.
While
we value individuality and celebrate our diversity, we also believe that
it is important to maintain a strong sense of community and work hard
to balance the needs of individuals with the needs of the group. In doing
so, we teach children to appreciate, respect, and accept each others
differences.
Most of all, we want children to have fun and to look forward to coming
to school each day!
