America Reads is a federally funded program dedicated to improving reading and literacy skills for young children. Exciting job opportunities exist in many area schools and child care programs. A University- based program, the Dorchester Literacy Resource Center, provides comprehensive training and supervised placement for summer, fall, and spring. This program offers a great salary, flexible hours, and a chance to make a difference!

Teaching Assistants / Substitute Teachers

The Early Learning Center is looking for creative, energetic students to assist classroom teachers in implementing curriculum and managing the classroom as part of a teaching team. We offer a good salary, flexible hours, and meaningful work in a supportive, learning environment.

Office Assistants

If you have good organizational skills and a desire to work with computers, and office systems, we can put your talent to good use. The Early Learning Center needs assistance to help manage our administrative office, reception area, and resource center. Hours are flexible and salary is based upon experience.

Family Advocate Internship

Interns are needed to oversee the development and coordination of family support services between the Early Learning Center and the community. Students will conduct a needs assessment to determine the range and scope of services required, become knowledgeable about the center’s procedures for referring children and families with special needs, and attend monthly Family-School Partnership meetings. A minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for a full semester is required. Internships can also be designed to meet students individual learning goals with permission of instructors.

Applications are now being accepted for summer and fall positions. Call 287-6195 today to arrange an interview.
