Students, not sure where to start? Review the Hiring Steps for general information on finding a job.

Ready to look for a job?

  • If you have qualified for a Work-Study position, you can search for Work Study positions via MONSTERTRAK.com (obtain a user name and password from UMass Boston Career Services).
  • For on-campus, Institutional (CC), part-time positions, you can search for these on MONSTERTRAK (obtain a user name and password from UMass Boston Career Services).
  • For off-campus part-time jobs, please use the OFF-CAMPUS PART-TIME JOB DATABASE (University Email Address required for registration).

About these services

Student Employment Services (SES) uses MONSTERTRAK to list all of the opportunities available in the Federal Work-Study and Institutional (CC) Student Employment programs, including community service opportunities.

The Federal Work-Study Community Service Program is limited to local non-profit agencies offering community service positions. The program funds 75 percent of the student's wages, offering off-campus non-profit organizations an opportunity to provide community service jobs for students at a fraction of the cost.

The Part-Time Job Program, on the other hand, is open to a broader array of employers. Please visit the OFF-CAMPUS PART-TIME JOB DATABASE to view available opportunities. Please remember that the companies listed on the Off-Campus Part-Time Database do not have any affiliations with UMass Boston.  While we make every effort to make sure the information is from secured sources, please use your discretion when reviewing employers and their employment opportunities.

Some things to think about when searching on MonsterTrak

  1. FWS and CC jobs are all listed as Part-Time under the "Type" field
  2. SES does not list jobs by industry, so selecting "All Industries" will provide you with the best search results.
  3. Limiting your search (at the bottom of the search list) - Students who do not have FWS (Federal Work-Study) should limit their search to On-Campus (Non-Work-Study).  Students who have FWS (Federal Work-Study) and are looking for On-Campus employment opportunities should search both On-Campus (Work-Study) and On-Campus (Non-Work-Study). Only students with FWS eligibility should limit their search to Off-Campus (Work-Study) Jobs, since all of those positions require FWS eligibility.
