Student Personnel Action Form

Student employment is through part-time, temporary, non-benefited positions. To place a student on the student payroll, a Personnel Action (PA) Form must be completed. The PA must be completed for each job that the student holds on campus.

IMPORTANT: It is a violation of federal law to allow an employee to begin working more than three days before the completion of the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification form. The I-9 is completed by the U.S. citizens and permanent residents in the One Stop Center.  International students complete the form in Student Employment Services. If you have any question about whether a student has completed an I-9, call SES to find out if and when it was completed. Any hours spent by a student at the workplace before an I-9 is completed will be considered volunteer time and will not be paid.

The PA form should be submitted to SES for review and processing. Once processed, the student will appear on the department's weekly student timesheet. The processed form will be returned to the employer once Human Resources has entered the information into the payroll system. If the student is not reflected on the departmental timesheet within two weeks of submitting this form, please call SES at 617-287-6320 or e-mail ses@umb.edu so that we may verify receipt of the form and determine the cause of delay.
