Student Employent Handbook

Student Employment Services at the University of Massachusetts Boston welcomes you to our student employment programs.

Our role is to promote a uniform code of student employment practices in accordance with federal, state, and university regulations. It is our hope that this guide will make the process of becoming a student employee less confusing. At the same time, employers should treat this handbook as an important reference.

Students who choose to work should make their student employment paperwork a priority once they have accepted a job. By doing so, you will help eliminate delays, allowing you to begin work sooner. If you are eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program, please remember that you must be on the FWS payroll by the end of the second week in October. Otherwise, your FWS eligibility will be canceled.
