International Financial Aid

MEFA Loan

Available to parents of students who are accepted to attend any Massachusetts college or university. This loan is available to graduate students and parents of undergraduate students.

Eligibility
  • Need school certification
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree-granting program
  • Families may borrow up to full cost of attendance
  • Graduate students must obtain a creditworthy co-signer
  • Canadian citizens may apply without a U.S. co-applicant
  • Co-signers must have verifiable income and stable employment history.

CITIASSIST Loan

Offered through CITIBANK to graduate and undergraduate students attending four-year colleges and universities.

Eligibility
  • Need school certification.
  • Enrolled in a degree program.
  • No enrollment status requirements (students less than half-time are eligible to borrow).
  • Must obtain one creditworthy co-signer.
  • Co-signer must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident (permanent residents must attach a copy of his or her Green Card with the application).
  • Co-signer must have verifiable income of at least $18,000 annually and have stable employment history.

PLATO

Called a private alternative loan. It's available to graduate, undergraduate and non-degree students attending accredited four-year colleges and universities.

Eligibility
  • No school certification
  • No enrollment status requirements; students less than half-time are eligible to borrow.
  • Must obtain 2 creditworthy co-borrowers
  • Co-borrowers must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; permanent residents must attach a copy of their Green Card with the application.
  • Co-borrowers must have verifiable income of at least $15,000 annually.

TERI PEP Loan

Called the Professional Educational Plan, this loan is available to law, medicine and dentistry students.

Eligibility
  • Need school certification
  • Enrolled at least half-time
  • Must obtain 2 creditworthy co-borrowers; one co-borrower must have a minimum credit history of two years.
  • Co-borrowers must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident and have resided in U.S. for the past 2 years; permanent residents must attach a copy of their Green Card with the application.
  • Co-borrowers must have verifiable income of at least $1,500 per month, stable employment and residence.
  • Self-employed co-borrowers must have been in business for at least 2 full years prior to filing an application or have other verifiable sources of income.

TERI Continuing Education Loan

Available to any student enrolled at a TERI-approved school; no enrollment status requirements and no school certification; student completes the application and mails it directly to TERI; if loan is approved, check is mailed to student; there is no financial aid involvement with this program.
