Students in all colleges benefit from the University Advising Centers services focusing on international students, co-ops and internships, study abroad, student exchange, career services, and academic help for students with learning disabilities. Academic advising and guidance are also available to all students; locations vary depending on what program theyre enrolled in, and their academic status.
The Office of Academic Support ProgramsThis office provides courses and tutoring designed to enable students to succeed in their studies. Its primary focus is on instruction and tutorials in critical reading and writing and mathematics skills, but students can also seek help through this office with any problems that affect their academic careers. The Co-op/Internship OfficeThis office helps qualified students locate work assignments directly related to their fields of study. Co-op students are usually paid for part- or full-time work over a semester, a summer, or a six-month period. Interns generally work part time12-20 hours a weekfor a semester, a summer, or longer, and may or may not be paid. Both co-op and internship students may receive credit for their work with the program. Students consult the staff about such questions as choosing a major, preparing a resumé, or improving interview skills. Special career counseling is available for those interested in medicine, law, or other fields involving graduate study. Seminars in resumé-writing and interviewing techniques, a career resource library, on-campus interviewing programs, and job fairs are available to help students find satisfying work after graduation. University Advising Center hours are 8:30 to 6:00 Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 to 5:00 on Fridays.
