Housing Checklist

This housing checklist is for general information. Please adjust accordingly to your needs.

Building:

• Door locks at the entrance
• Doorbell works
• Mailbox
• Hallway - clean, odorless, has light

Structure:

• Floors, walls, ceilings, roof: check for holes, cracks and bulges and make sure everything is leak-free
• Doors and windows: The locks must be in good working condition.
• Staircases: stable
• Porch: stable
• No lead paint

Kitchen:

• Sink: drains properly
• Ventilation
• Lights
• Electrical outlet in working condition
• Refrigerator, if any, in good working condition

Bathroom:

• Wash basin, bathtub, toilet - no leaks.
• Lights
• Electrical outlet
• Ventilation

Water and Heat:

• Hot and cold water for ordinary use
• Temperature is set accordingly for the winter and summer

Electrical Wiring:

• Adequate wiring and wall outlets for electric fixture
• Proper lighting in hallway, laundry, storage room, stairway
• No temporary wiring. No exposed wiring 

Laundry:

• On-site laundry facility, if any, in proper working condition.
• Adequate light and ventilation
• Water drains properly

Rats and Roaches:

• If present, they must be exterminated by the owners before you move in
