FEDERAL SUBSIDIZED STAFFORD LOAN

• This is self help aid you are required to repay. To borrow the loan, you will need to complete the following process (HOW TO BORROW MY STAFFORD LOAN).

STEPS REQUIRED:

1. Loan Request Form -- All students must complete the loan request form in order to receive the funds.
2. Federal Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling -- All students must complete the Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling at http://www.mapping-your-future.org to receive the funds. This information will be forwarded electronically to The Office of Financial Aid Services.
3. Master Promissory Note -- Once you have completed Steps 1 & 2, the lender will mail you a Master Promissory Note (MPN) to your home address. The MPN must be completed and returned to the lender in order for the funds to be released to the school. Students who have already borrowed from the UMass Boston Stafford Loan Program may not need to complete another MPN.
